Newspapers Pencil

What do guys do with your yesterday’s newspapers?

 Toss them away?

Please don’t!  They can become DIY pencils and it’s very easy to do so.

Newspaper pencils

What you’ll need are

All that you need

A newspapers piece cut into A4 size

A lead

Latex glue

A scissor

Colorful paper layers

I used these colorful papers to make my pencil look more colorful when finished.

Pencil’s first layer

I cut the first paper layer into half, measure it with the lead, then cut it.

Place your lead a little ahead from the paper edge, this way it is easier to sharpen the pencil off when finished.

Apply small amount of latex glue all over the paper

Apply a thin layer of latex glue all over the paper. Make sure you don’t over apply or the paper might be torn.

Roll the lead with care.

Here comes the dodgy part. Roll the lead with the paper tightly.

Try your best not to let any gap occur between the lead and the paper.

Leave it dry

Leave it dry for an hour.

Second rolling

Roll the dry pencil once more to thicken the pencil handle. Wait for another hour for it to dry.

One last layer to go

Here is the last layer, roll it one last time with the cut newspapers.

Leave it sit overnight

Let it dry overnight.

Sharpen when it’s completely dry

When it is completely dry, sharpen it regularly. It’s ready to be used!!!

My masterpiece!

This is very easy and cheap.  You can enjoy doing this with your family and friends, or even sell them. You can also design your own pencils with styles and colors you like.

I hope you enjoy.
